How to connect to Console Discussions IRC Chat with mIRC

Wrote this tutorial to increase the popularity and to show you how to get into the IRC Chat of Console Discussions with this little app mIRC

You can also get there with the online irc chat, but its not as cool as mIRC.


So here we go.


Download mIRC

Also if you have a Mac You need this.

Colloquy the setup is fairly similar to this one but as I do not have a Mac I can not guide you through it.

Open mIRC, then click File > Select Server on the left there will be sections. Click Connect.

Heres how the fields should be..

Full Name : What Ever you want
Email Address : [email protected]
Nickname : What ever nick you want.
Alt. Nickname : What you want if your nick is in use.

Like this..





Now go to Server under Connect. Click add then in the description type what you like, as the server you need "IRC.Mibbit.com" and as the port you need "6667". Then just click add.

Now the server window will pop up. It will say blah blah blah. To register your nick name so no one can use it without a password type this.

"/ns register password emailyouused"

Use the email you used to connect as your register one. Don't worry you don't need to confirm anything. Use a password no one can guess.

It will say you password is _____ remember it for later use.

Like this..






Now to connect to our chat. All you have to do is in the server window type..

"/join #consolediscussions"

and you'll join our chat. If your a staff member you need to login BEFORE coming to the chat or your powers will not be given to you by the bot. You also need to be put on the list by AB.
To login in it will say you need to type blah blah to login once you connect you type this..

"/ns identify yourpassword"

Now your logged in just join the chat and come and talk.

Have fun, don't impersonate staff and follow the rules here as well while on the chat.

Yeah, and remember staff once you have "op" or "half op" in the chat you have to log in BEFORE you come to the chat room.

Either AB Didn't set it or your not logging in before you join Console Discussions chat. You need to login and /ns identify your self before you join Console Discussions channel.

I have it set to auto log in, idk, I think it might be the bot because here's what it says every time I log in: Bot joined the chat room.
